Ascot Daily Speed Ratings – 8 May 2021

Ascot Racecourse features once again in our daily speed ratings, which come from the Racing Post. Horses will be able to run quickly on a track where the going will be good. Six races will be hosted on Friday 8 May, but our focus is on the £30,000 19:45 Handicap.

For this race, 11 runners have entered. The field appears relatively quick, with three horses boasting speed ratings higher than 100. Carnival King has the highest rating of 108, while Fruity and Be Bold have been rated at 106 and 102, respectively.

However, a concern with backing any of those three is that all have been seeded close to the back of the pack. Instead, a better prospect appears to be the 93-rated Hawkesbury.

The three-year-old has won twice and finished second on two occasions from its past three races. Four Seasons (83) will also compete, having won four from its past six.

Chester Horse Racing Speed Ratings – 6 May 2021

Wednesday 6 May will see seven races hosted at Chester Racecourse. Notable jockeys in attendance will be Kieran Fallon, Jamie Spencer, and the renowned Frankie Dettori. On what is expected to be a cloudy day, the going should be good to soft. Today’s daily speed figures from Chester come via Sky Sports.

The 15:10 Betway Chester Cup is the standout race of the day. Trainers and jockeys will compete to claim the lion’s share of the £120,000 prize fund earmarked for the race. However, one notable name not competing is Frankie Dettori.

Jamie Spencer is riding a quick prospect in the 97-rated Angel Gabrial, and also looks good with a number one seeding. Towards the middle of the pack Edge of Sanity and Quick Jack are rated 100 and 101, respectively. Although rated quickest at 104, Lady Kashaan is starting seeded third from last.

Newmarket Daily Speed Figures – 2 May 2022

Newmarket Racecourse is taking the headlines today (Saturday 2 May) because the legendary Frankie Dettori will make a rare appearance back in the saddle. Although showers are on the weather forecast, it is expected that the ground will hold up and that the going will be good to firm.

Dettori is only scheduled to ride in the 14:00 Suffolk Stakes Handicap, which is the first race of the day. For some quality horse racing speed ratings free of charge, we look to the latest analysis from the Racing Post.

From the outset, we need to caution against backing Dettori. Despite being seeded third, he is riding a 63-rated horse in All Set To Go. Moreover, the four-year-old is inexperienced and has not won a race in six outings.

A brighter prospect is the 113-rated Bronze Angel. The six year-old has won twice and finish third once in the past six races it entered.

Redcar Daily Speed Figures – 30 April 2022

A fresh selection of UK horse racing speed ratings are released daily by the Racing Post. For Wednesday 30 April, we look to the speed ratings for Yorkshire’s Redcar Racecourse. The going should be good to firm, with wind and showers expected throughout the afternoon.

Although seeded first for the Class 4 15:20 Handicap, Monsieur Chevalier is firmly in the middle of the pack when it comes to speed ratings. The eight-year-old Tom Eaves-ridden horse will enter the race with a 76 rating.

Two Moons and Shahdaroba are just behind with ratings of 78 and 77, respectively. However, Monsieur Chevalier has won three of its past six races, so there is proven pedigree.

The highest rating of 95 has been credited Bow and Arrow, which will be ridden by Graham Lee. Although placed seventh from the nine runners, Bow and Arrow could be an interesting outsider having won its last two races.

Newcastle Racecourse Speed Ratings – 28 April 2022

A packed schedule of seven races will be held in Newcastle today (Tuesday 28 April). To preview the race meeting, we turn to the Racing Post for another insightful selection of horse racing speed ratings free. The going is currently good to firm, but heavy showers could change that.

The first couple of the early evening races are not particularly exciting, which is why our focus is on the 18:15 Handicap. From the 11 runners entered in this Class 4 race, it is Barney McGrew that has the top speed rating of 91.

However, Grissom and Dark Castle are just behind with their 90 ratings. There is a major drop-off after those two horses. Most of the other runners are in the 60s or 70s.

From the quickest three, Grissom is perhaps the one to watch. The nine-year-old is ranked highly for his overall rating (80) and Racing Post rating (99).

Doncaster Speed Ratings Preview – 24 April 2022

Doncaster Racecourse has seven races scheduled for today (Friday 24 April). So long as the sunny weather holds up, the going is expected to be good to firm. Today’s daily speed figures come via the Racing Post.

The 13:20 Handicap is a Class 5 race that will feature 14 runners. From the field, it is Janaab’s speed rating of 78 that is highest. Birdman has been identified as the only close speed contender, with a 76 rating.

Fewer runners will participate in the 13:50 Handicap, but the competition should be intense. Aabir has been marked out with a lofty 81 rating.

However, there are three horses from the six runners that have ratings in the 70s. Those horses are King Bolette (78), Subcontinent (74), and Atab (73). From that trio, it is notable that William Twiston-Davies will ride Atab. His brother is the talented Sam Twiston-Davies.

Catterick Speed Ratings – 22 April 2022

Sunny weather has been enjoyed by many parts of the UK for several days now, and that means that the going is good to firm on many racecourses. Catterick happens to be one of those courses, with the going expected to be good to firm today (Wednesday 22 April).

After checking out all of the UK horse racing speed ratings for Catterick, it was interesting to see that the Racing Post had rated just one horse as higher than 100 for speed. That horse is seven-year-old Piceno from the 16:20 Handicap, which is open to Class 3 horses. A field of eight entrants is slated to run.

Piceno also has the highest Racing Post Rating of 108, with Ifwecan a little behind with 105. However, Ifwecan only has a speed rating of 75, which is much lower than the 108 for Piceno. Perhaps an each-way bet could work out.

AP McCoy Final Races at Ayr Racecourse – 18 April 2022

AP McCoy was unable to win the Grand National 2015, which means that we have a few more races to savour from one of the horse racing’s finest-ever jockeys. The outrageously successful Irishman will make his final appearance at Ayr Racecourse today (Saturday 18 April), when the going will be good (good to soft in places).

In a busy schedule of eight races, it is the 14:35 QTS Champion Hurdle that we look to as the first hotly contested race of the day. Coincidently, that is a race that McCoy will be competing in. To preview his chances, we are taking a quick glance at the latest UK horse racing speed ratings from the Racing Post.

For this race, McCoy will ride the eight-year-old Sea Lord at a rating of 130. A concern for McCoy, though, will be that Richard Johnson is riding the 157-rated Cheltenian. Violet Dancer is also rated at 157 for the race.

Newmarket Speed Ratings – 16 April 2022

Newmarket is expecting partly cloudy weather tomorrow (16 April), when the going will be good. Fans should be eager for this meeting because it will feature eight races instead of just seven. And from the day’s races, it is the 15:30 Abernant Stakes that appears to be fasted, at least according to the latest horse racing speed ratings free from the Racing Post.

A total of 12 runners have declared for the 15:30. Ahead of the race, it is Chookie Royale that has the top speed rating of 115. The Keith Dalgleish-trained horse is seven years old and will be ridden by Tom Eaves.

The race will feature a few other horses with speed ratings of above 100. Most notably, Jack Dexter and Rivellino have been rated equal on 109. Then, you have Music Master just behind them on 108, while American Hope is 106 and Astaire is 103.

Carlisle Daily Speed Figures – 14 April 2022

The Racing Post has shared some interesting daily speed figures for the 16:20 Handicap Chase at Carlisle Racecourse on Tuesday 14 April. A crowd of nine runners will be competing to win the top share of the £8,500 prize fund. Ahead of the Tuesday afternoon action, the going is expected to be good to soft.

Trust Thomas has been identified as the top prospect based on speed, with a 117 rating. The seven-year-old is trained by Ann Hamilton and will be ridden by Tony Kelly.

Vasco D´Ycy does not have quite as high a rating, but is still worth consideration given its 114 rating. Jedd O’Keeffe and Brian Harding form the trainer-jockey partnership responsible for this promising six-year-old.

Solway Dornal is the only other horse in the race to have a speed rating above 100. The nine-year-old trained by Lisa Harrison and ridden by Ryan Day is rated as 107.
